With the Peugeot Bipper, Peugeot has employed the philosophy of 'designed for the city'.
It is a compact commercial vehicle that is perfect for use on any road, but has been designed with special consideration for the challenges of operating a commercial vehicle within the city. As the most compact of Peugeot's commercial vehicles, the Bipper has a high level of agility and manoeuvrability. The size of its body enables it to take advantage of parking spaces regardless of their location. Despite this, it still offers a premier level of interior cargo storage space, and represents Peugeot's dedication to improvement without compromise.
The exterior of the Bipper has been given features that are safe and protective as well as functional, such as reinforced fixed protection in the front bumper which puts emphasis on the vehicle's strength. There are also protective mouldings running the entire length of the vehicle, protecting the Bipper from minor hazards such as potential small bumps and scrapes during city travel. The exterior style has dynamic and rounded lines, which Peugeot uses to express the strong and modern nature of the vehicle. Ten different colour customisation options are available, offered as either solid or metallic options.
With the Bipper's production, Peugeot laid out four points to characterise the overall experience: compactness, economy, driving pleasure and style. These are fully expressed with the interior features, such as the 610kg weight capacity and load length perfectly suited to loading long and bulky objects. There is a driver's ladder fitted as standard, and a folding Multi-Flex passenger seat to give an interior space boost if required. The seats have an elevated position and offer car-like comfort, and the large windscreen offers a premium view of the road ahead. Ergonomic design gives 12 storage spaces throughout the cabin, as well as easy use of the four-speaker radio with CD and MP3 compatibility.
The 1.3 litre, 75bhp HDi diesel engine of the Bipper is linked to a five-speed manual or EGC transmission. When equipped with the manual gearbox, the Bipper returns notable fuel economy and low carbon emissions of 62.8mpg and 119g/km - impressive figures, but ones that are improved upon even more by the EGC transmission, with which drivers can achieve 68.9mpg and 109g/km.
Safety features included with the Bipper are the standard driver's airbag, as well as the option for a passenger airbag and side air bags. The trip computer monitors the vehicle performance and offers audio and visual warnings if errors are detected, and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) adjusts braking pressure to maintain vehicle stability.
