Peugeot has announced details of a two-year sponsorship deal with British tennis player Jamie Murray, older brother of two-time Grand Slam singles champion Andy Murray.
The elder Murray will be officially backed by the French manufacturer until the end of 2017. Murray is currently Britain’s top-ranked men’s doubles player, and was crowned Wimbledon mixed doubles champion in 2007. His other career highlights include 13 ATP titles and appearances in three Grand Slam finals in both men’s and mixed doubles.
Peugeot has been involved in world tennis for more than 30 years, and this latest sponsorship deal will hopefully help Murray to more victories during the next 24 months.
Murray commented: "This new sponsorship is fantastic news and will prove invaluable in my competition efforts. I’ll be very proud to sport the Peugeot lion on my sleeve at competitions all over the world over the next two years. It’s great to see Peugeot extending their involvement with tennis and I am delighted to be a part of their team going forward."
Peugeot has also become a Platinum partner of the ATP World Tour from 2016, as well as the official car supplier at more than 20 ATP World Tour events. Models including the 3008 Crossover, 5008 and 508 are supplied to help transport players, officials, VIPs and other special guests.
"Peugeot shares tennis’ values of performance, innovation and elegance," said Peugeot CEO Maxime Picat. "These are the same values that we aim to share with our customers. This new sponsorship of Jamie Murray is an expression of the support Peugeot provides tennis as a sport, its sports men and women and the parallels between these and the Peugeot brand and products."
