Essex Mayor goes electric with Nissan LEAF
To set a positive example to the residents of Thurrock, its mayor took a zero-emissions Nissan LEAF for a seven-day test drive around the area. Steve Liddiard, Mayor of Thurrock, arranged the test drive with Toomey Nissan Basildon.Following the test drive, he found himself so impressed by the vehicle that he purchased one from the dealership.
Liddiard is set to use the vehicle to drive to and from his official engagements as mayor. By providing an excellent drive experience alongside the fact that it costs only 2p per mile to run, the Nissan LEAF is a stylish vehicle to set the trend of ecological mindfulness.
Prior to buying his new LEAF, Liddiard formerly owned a 2.2-litre diesel vehicle, which was traded in exchange for the new environmentally-friendly car.
He has also publicly stated his satisfaction with the LEAF as an everyday domestic vehicle. "It’s such an amazing car to drive, it looks great and it absolutely suits my lifestyle. The people of Thurrock will see me out and about in my LEAF and hopefully they will now be inspired to go electric too."
Additionally, the Nissan LEAF specialist at Toomey Nissan Basildon, Darren Smith, said of Liddiard's purchase: "In his position he clocks up lots of miles, so it makes sense to use a vehicle that offers significant savings and contributes to improving the town’s air quality. We hope others will be encouraged to join him and take up electric motoring."
Toomey Nissan Basildon is located in West Mayne, and is open seven days a week to receive your queries relating to the Nissan LEAF and its benefits. Contact us if you have any questions about the car, and we will be happy to arrange a test drive for you today.
