Chevrolet has chosen an appropriate stage to showcase its 2017 Bolt electric vehicle (EV) – this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The model fulfils the brand’s promise to bring an affordable EV with a long range to the mainstream market.
Production of the Bolt EV will start towards the end of 2016, and Chevrolet will pay close attention to feedback from owners of its Volt plug-in hybrid. A range of more than 200 miles will be possible from a full charge, while leading connectivity technologies have been included to enhance and personalise the ownership experience.
“It was less than a year ago that we revealed the Bolt EV concept and promised to deliver a long-range electric vehicle attainable by the masses,” commented GM Chairman and CEO Mary Barra. “The Bolt EV is capable of using the latest mobile app technology to enable car sharing, advanced GPS routing and gamification, all designed to enhance the ownership experience now and into the future.”
The intelligent innovations Barra spoke of include a more accurate driving range projection which considers the time of day, typography, weather and driver habits. The car’s Bluetooth® system has been developed to consume less energy – maximising the Bolt EV’s efficiency, and will activate as the owner approaches the car. The model will also be able to act as its own WiFi hotspot so motorists can access apps and other services through a high-speed connection.
The leading-edge kit doesn’t end there. Other attractive connectivity and infotainment features include a 10.2-inch colour touchscreen display with flip board-style operation, rear view camera, and the MyChevrolet mobile app.
The Bolt EV will go on sale in the UK through Toomey Chevrolet in Basildon. Enquire with a member of our showroom team for updates on the car and all others from the American brand.
