A 2013 facelift has brought the look of the manufacturer's popular Duster supermini into line with the contemporary market, while still maintaining the rugged and robust character that initially brought the vehicle to popularity. The core values of the Duster are still practicality and functionality, with the capacity to carry five people, and enough interior boot space for all of their luggage, too. Advances in engine technology ensure that the Duster is economical and ecological, and motorists can choose from three levels of trim: the Access, the Ambiance, and the Lauréate.
On the outside, Dacia's redesigns to the bodywork are immediately apparent. There is a new front grille, a choice of 16-inch alloy wheels, new roofbars, and a wide range of colours to pick from. Double optic headlights ensure that your path will always be illuminated, and the numberplate is highlighted by a black surround with satin chrome.
At rest, the Duster has 475 litres of luggage capacity. If the back seats are folded, this increases to an extremely impressive 1,636 litres. The cloth interior upholstery comes in 'Hassium', 'Osmium' and 'Rhodium' varieties, depending on vehicle trim. Additional and optional features include a radio with CD player, including MP3 CD reader, which can be controlled from the multifunctional steering wheel. Bluetooth® connectivity allows for handsfree telephony, and the AUX input and USB connection give greater audio personalisation.
The Duster offers a choice of of a 1.6 litre, 105hp petrol engine and a 1.5 litre, 107hp or 109hp diesel unit. Front-wheel or all-wheel drive, as well as five or six-speed manual transmissions, are available. The petrol motor delivers a slightly quicker acceleration time of 11.5 seconds, whilst the diesel engine offers superior combined fuel consumption of 56.5mpg, and CO2 emissions of 130g/km. Safety features include a driver's airbag, as well as a passenger airbag with deactivation function and front side airbags. ABS and Emergency Brake Assist form the driver safety assistant systems, including Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Traction Control. Parents can rest easy knowing that ISOFIX points are included in both outer rear seats, allowing for easy child seat installation.
